What Causes Sharp Stabbing Upper Back Pain?
I have terrible pain in the upper left side of my back - in my rib/lung area - sharp stabbing pain - started yesterday, calmed down but returned with vengeance this morning - I have been drinking too much and smoking.....but will stop from today....frightened it could be pancreatitis ???? Dr thought I may have had it last year when I was in hospital.... but I was clear.........drinking too much I think...determined to stop now....can you help...think I need to see my GP

This could be a peptic ulcer problem or pancreatitis and you need blood work, a ct scan of the abdomen and upper endoscopy to fully evaluate it
