What Causes Sharp Stinging Pain In Between The Heel And Ankle?

My right foot, near the heel between the ankle bone and rear of foot gets a sharp stinging pain while my heel is on the ground and I lift the front of my foot up and gently rock back slightly on my heel. The pain was not constant until today (been bothersome for about a week) now have a feeling in foot like a numbness not painful though. No swelling, no discoloration, no recent trauma.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Progressive pain in heel & ankle , stinging/ numbness .. causing difficulty in walking. .. indicates problem of lumber spine/ disc.
Pl. comsult an orthopedic doctor for examination & x ray/ MRI/ CT scan of spine to spot the cause & get specific treatment ( physiotherapy, medicines or spinal surgery in some non responding cases. )
Thanks.
I find this answer helpful
