What Causes Shedding Of Tissues In The Gums Indicate?

My periodontist said my gums were sloughing of tissue that looked 'stringy'. My toothpaste is fine, but I have other health issues too. I also have a knuckle disease where they are red rings, they itch, and I have cortizone treatments under the skin. I have no allergies to food, dust, trees, pollen, etc

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain peeling or shedding of gums along with stringy appearance and in case if they appear inflamed and ulcerated, it is probably due to a disease of gums known as Desquamatous gingivitis..

I would suggest you to consult a Periodontist and get evaluated and he can advise you a biopsy or Exfoliative cytology of the gums to eliminate other causes as Oral Lichen planus, Pemphegus can also have similar symptoms..

As of now you can start chewing a Vitamin C pellet to improve gum health and do antiseptic mouthwash gargles along with warm saline gargles..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
