What Causes Shingles On The Buttocks And Chest Despite Taking Valtrex?
Have had shingles for couple months. On valtrex twice. Have 4 more days meds left. Always taking Rx exactly as ordered. Now noticed new outbreak on left buttock and return of raised areas left chest. Why will they not go away? I am healthy and take no other Rx from PCP. Age 67 y/o male, smoker.

Shingles typically only affect a small part of the body, and so I would not expect it to affect both your buttock and chest area. In your case, shingles were possibly the wrong diagnosis and you need to check with your doctor about what else it might be.
