What Causes Shivering, Headache And Nausea While Suffering From Aplastic Anemia?
I am a 62 y.o. male with aplastic anemia . My hemoglobin drops to around 7.0 every three weeks and requires a blood transfusion. My question is ,when I go in a building where the a/c is usually set about 68 degrees , I have cold spells where I begin to shiver vigoursly as if I were in temperatures below freezing. I sometimes have to sit in these conditions for 5-8 hours. The following day I feel sickly, headache, nausea, exhausted etc. It usually clears within 24 hours. How much does the anemia cause this reaction.Thank You
There are different possible ways in which your anemia may be playing a role in your cold intolerance: (1) anemia is sometimes associated with delayed or sluggish thyroid response
(2)your blood flow plays a role in maintaining heat , with anemia there is decreased oxygen supply in the blood and this would possibly affect the distribution of heat throughout the body
I hope this helps
