What Causes Shock Sensations Behind The Eye While Suffering From Occipital Neuralgia?

I have had 5 concussions with whiplash and also Ossipital neuralgia, major spinal degenerative disc disorder, and spinal fusion at C5-C7 WITH 360 degree spinal removal of bone spurs. I am currently taking Gabapentin for shocks in my head and now I am having them behind my right eye and around the backside of my ears. Is my Occipital Neuralgia getting worse or is it something else?

Hello,

The severely intense shock like sensation behind eye indicates neurologic disturbances at the nerve conduction pathway level.

Though gabapentin and other such molecules may show up primary relief of some degree, the diagnosis of the underlying cause is very mandatory with the neurologic examination, MRI brain and other tests as per the clinical need.

Immediately consult your neurologist and discuss the same with him or her for future management.
