What Causes Shooting Pain In The Back Of The Head?

I have this shooting pain in back of my head . I am taking Tylenol for one week and applying warm compress. It has not helped it go away. I am under stress from moving to another State. I am a healthy 68 female who exercises and eats well. I do not take any prescribed medication. The pain is numbed when I take the Tylenol .

Hi,

The symptoms of the message are highly suggestive of a possible trapezitis. It has probably come up because of the stress (mental and physical) due to the shifting. In this situation, it is unlikely that Tylenol will afford anything more than a temporary relief. I would recommend:
1. Heat fomentation.
2. Relaxation exercises and yoga.
3. Tab Amitryptiline and muscle relaxants may help you (but you will need a prescription for the same).
4. Physiotherapy.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
