Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Shooting Pain In The Foot That Radiates To Upper Foot?
Yesterday my foot started bothering me, the more I used it the more it hurt until I could no longer walk on it. The pain is located in between my heal and the ball of my foot, and radiates upward to the top of my foot and sometimes up the back of my leg. I went to the er and they said it was plantar facilitis or something like that and gave me a boot and crutches and said to stay off it. It didn't hurt worse right when I woke up but I have stayed off of it. But all day today I have had shooting pain and my leg and foot are really cold. I'm just wondering if I should wait the week before seeing a specialist or if I should call sooner
Thank you for your question on HCM. Plantar fasciits is an inflaammation of the layer of fascia beneath our sole which has an important function of shock absorbing. This is a self limiting condition and it is nothing which should worry you alot.If your profession involve long hours of standing then this might be one of the reasons for it to occur, this requires to be modified.apart from this, i would recommend that you soak your feet in a tub of warm water and salt everyday. You can take tab Ibuprofen twice a day and this will relieve your pan and reduce the inflammation. In spite of this if you havee no relief you can try a few shoe inserts for plantar fasciitis which are available over the counter(Powerstep pinnacle blue) Hope this wass helpful to you. Regards, Dr.Radhika
