Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Good evening, my boyfriend 49 years of age smacked the top of his head on Friday at work. He has been experiencing pain on both sides of his neck. No nausea, no vomiting, not vision disturbances. Nothing other than pain shooting down on either side of neck. Should he seek medical attention?
Any concussion due to head injury should be ruled out. I would suggest you to take a MRI brain and also X-ray or CT (neck) to rule out any abnormalities. Neuralgia or nerve damage can also cause shooting pain commonly which should also be ruled out.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
