What Causes Short Periods Post Unprotected Sex?

hi, i had unprotected sex a while ago. i took 2 pregnancy tests before my expected period date and they were both negative. i ended up getting my period 3 days late, it is normal bleeding. last month i was in a lot of pain when i was on my period, but that happens sometimes. the only weird thing is my periods seem to be a tad shorter, before they used to last 8 days, now they are around 4 days, with the same amount of bleeding.

Hello,

I don't know your age, but if you are in your teens, what may be happening is that with the 8 day periods, which is somewhat prolonged, you may not have been actually ovulating, and now, if you are regular and 4 days of bleeding, this may be a more normal cycle due to ovulation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh,
