What Causes Short Term Memory Loss Post Placement Of Medtronic Drug Pump?

Hi. I have no control over my bowls. It happened once before. One month ago. And it is happening now. I have a lower back issue. My butt gets numb. No big deal. Now this is the 2nd time I am pooping myself. And it s not a little. Full blown. Ever since I had a Medtronic drug pump implanted I have been having strange things happen. One being the pooping. Short-term memory loss, anxious all the time, light headed and others. I m more worried about the pooping. My doctor says it s stress. I think it is the prialt medicine in my pump. Please help.

Difficult to say in this particular case. The most common drug pump is into the spine...the area that controls bowel control. Obviously change in bowel control--especially not knowing what is happening down there--is a serious sign that the pump is hitting a nerve in the wrong way. Certainly anxiety about anything will cause effects on memory and that is neither due to drug nor the pump per se. The narcotics in the most common pumps will cause changes in mentation usually drowsiness along with memory problems. THese are just a few of many other possibilities..
