What Causes Short Term Memory Loss While On Tamoxifen?

I have been on Tamoxifen for post treatment of breast cancer for over 1 year. Recently I ve noticed I m having short term memory loss, confusion and foggy brain (more so than when I did right after chemo). Is this from the Tamoxifen and will it eventually go away?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are some people who experience changes with aspects of their memory with Tamoxifen but the other effects are not known or common.

Having said that, people react differently to medications. In terms of resolution, as these symptoms are not common it is not clear about possible progression.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
