Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has shortness of breath when running or exerting himself. He s 51 and in excellent shape - runs everyday. THis came on suddenly. He s been to the doctor but she didn t know what it was - she took blood and we are waiting. I just wondered what it may be a symptom of?
With a history like this I would be concerned about his heart. He might also be having problems with asthma or some other lung problem. If he were my patient, I would want to get breathing tests, a treadmill stress test, and possibly a chest x-ray. It might be something benign since he is in excellent shape, but I would want to rule out the big bad stuff first. Hope this answers your query. If you have further questions, I would be happy to answer them.
