What Causes Shortness Of Breath Along With Edema In Lower Legs And Ankles?

UMy husband of 62 is suffering from not getting enough breath, edema ankles and lower legs. No energy. We resently found our furnance was leaking carbon dioxide. We live together, our snake justdied is why we had the home checked. Mine is not so bad but he is vomiting and just pale. Live in the mountains so a few hours to hospital. Any thoughts

he is probably suffering from congestive heart failure. he needs to get checked by a cardiologist. mean while ask him to rest and avoid any kind of physical and heavy activity.
