What Causes Shortness Of Breath Along With Heaviness In Chest Of A Diabetic?
64 yr old male. 5 7 155 lbs. diabetic. deep cough for 2 months, non productive. now experiencing shortness of breath when laying down or sleeping. is awakened from not breathing well. Chest feels heavy. Had chest xrays at VA 2 weeks ago and they dx a cold and state that this will pass. no antibiotics given. what may the shortness of breath be from?

You need to be investigated thoroughly to rule out any cardiac problem which causing breathlessness. I suggest you to consult cardiologist and get done ECG. If the cough & cold are due to viral infection, it will subside slowly, no need to worry for that.
