What Causes Shortness Of Breath Along With Pain In Joints?

I suffer from severe shortness of breath in that I cannot walk across a street without breathing quite heavily. I have drank heavily in the past (5 - 6 glasses of wine per day for some time). Could this be the cause of my shortness of breath. I have stopped drinking, but it is extremely difficult. I also have a lot of joint pain, and I was wondering if this, too, could be caused by my alcohol abuse. It would help me know understand. Thank You.

I have understand your concern

shortness of breath after heavy drinking mostly related to cardiac issue

alcohol leads to dilated cardiomyopathy and reduced cardiac function with reduced cardiac output

reduced cardiac output is the reason for your shortness of breath

alcohol nothing to do with knee pain, mostly it is because of arthritis

I can suggest you to get done

Chest x-ray
ECG
Echo

depending upon the results we have to proceed .
