What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Anemia After Taking Metformin?
I have been diagnosed with diabetes type 2 and given metformin (500 mg twice a day) I did not feel well with the medication - but the doctor did not care. as a result of the med I became anemic and short of breath. I stopped taking the medication two months ago, and the anemia is very slowly going away. I am short a lot of iron and cannot quite handle the supplements due constipation/diarrhea. How does one shake this metformin faster out of my system so I can get back to the normal condition I was before. I don t have diabetes - maybe borderline. do you think you can help dalia carmel
can you please share your blood sugar reports and also Hb A1 C percentages when you were started on the treatment and if you have got it done in between too, to ascertain the diabetes and its diagnosis.
metformin does not give the kind of issues that you are taking about it is a very safe medication for diabetic the anaemia may be of a different origin as you have said due to iron deficiency, if you have diabetes there are other medication available if you are not comfortable with metformin they can be tried. you will need a prescription for them though. to get over anaemia if oral iron supplements do not suit you you can go for parenteral iron therapy this too you will have to discuss with your treating physician. hope it helps
