Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 51 yr old female. I am 5 6 and weigh approx. 190lbs. I have had shortness of breath for sometime (apporox 2 years) and I attributed this to being over weight and out of shape. I have severe pain in my chest from just walking from point A to B. During the beginning when I noticed the difficulty, my left arm had some pain. I have had 2 ekgs and have been told me heart is fine. I have had pain from acid reflux but not on a regular basis but this pain comes on when I exert myself just by walking. The pain is severe like when you are breathing in cold air. What is my next step?

What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Chest Pain?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Before labeling it as pain from acid reflex, other causes need to be ruled out. You got suspicious after 2 echocardiography of cardiac. Chest x-ray and spirometry can be done to rule out respiratory cause. Check your CBC level as well. Hope this will help you in reaching diagnosis. If no specific cause is found then acid reflex induced or musculoskeletal pain can be the possible cause. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Parth Goswami
