Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Frequent Urge To Burp?
Having trouble getting a full breath then have the feeling of needing to burp. When I do burp, sometimes nothing comes up but i can feel foam in my throat. If I try hard, I can get it to come up and spit it out. Even if I do spit it out, it doesn t help the breathing problem.
You may have GERD, which is gastroesophageal reflux and consists of acid reflux from the stomach to the throat. This causes patients to have the urge to burp and may in some cases, also cause lung problems.
I would recommend you to use Omeprazole 20 mg 30 minutes before breakfast. You should eat frequent small amounts of food during the day and avoid eating 4 hours before bedtime. Avoid coffee, alcohol, and smoking. Avoid also sparkling drinks and other drinks and food that you notice make you worse.
A doctor's visit is necessary to confirm this and rule out other causes for your symptoms.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
