What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Insomnia After Taking Pantoprazole Sodium 40?

I began taking pantoprazole sod 40 mg eleven days ago, June 14, in the mornings. On the tenth evening I experienced mild shortness of breath, and a feeling of fear. In today s, Saturday, June 25, early morning, I was awash with a flood of panic. I also experienced insomnia before that, a kind of unemotional restlessness. I have had two soft and light (beige) bowel movements. Today, in later morning, I experienced a shortness of breath, increased, and was concerned that I would pass out. I am on sertraline, 125; synthroid, 50 mcg; atorvastatin, 10 mg; and amlodipine, 2.5 mg; also, taken in the morning, as well as several vitamins: E, 500; low dose baby aspirin, 400 ENTERIC coated tablets; C, 500 mg, chewable; D3, 1000 IU; and B12,5000 mcg. Can you advise me as to the symptoms I mentioned? My next question might be addressed to our pharmacist. Thank you. Roberta

Hi,

Well, insomnia may be difficult to treat, but there are some methods that can be used. Treatment options include behavior and lifestyle changes, medicines, and complementary medicines.

You need to change your dietary habits and these include changing your sleep area or schedule, watching what and when you eat and drink, and being more active.

It's also important to keep regular bedtimes and wake times-7 days a week-and to try to avoid taking naps during the day.

Prescription sleep medicines may also help and include diazepam and similar medications. Melatonin is supplement which may be of help as well. In severe cases special testing is needed.
