What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Swelling In Fingers?

My ANA came back at 1:160. I have swelling in my fingers, extreme fatigue and shortness of breath. I am diabetic for 40 years and have peripartum cardiomyopathy. My recent echo shows a 40% EF, which has been stable for about 10 years. My internist and cardiologist are both trying to get me an appointment to see a rhumatologist. No protein in my urine and my kidney function is good. He also ruled out RA.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If RA has been ruled out based on screening with RA factor then a rheumatologist review to rule out other causes of migratory polyarthritis and serum uric acid, and sero negative arthritis should be ruled out. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be helpful for symptomatic relief. ASO titres may also be needed to be evaluated.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
