Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 62 years old and have Type 2 diabetes. My medications for it were changed due to insurance not covering Invokana anymore. so we tried Jardiance and then Truilicity (spelling??). Everything went wrong. I had severe swelling, immediate weight gain, and shortness of breath. Plus my BGs were all over the place and my last AIC was almost 9 from 6.3 taking Invokana, I forgot to mention I have an insulin pump. I stopped Truilicity 2 weeks ago and I just use my pump and take metformin. My BGs have been great. I have alway had high BGs in the morning but no more between 125-150 instead of close to 200 or more. During the day from 110 - 160 at the most. This is great but ... my ankles still swell and my weight has not changed and I still have shortness of breath. I feel bloated. My husband and I were walking but I can t because I am short of breath. I am scheduled for my yearly examine July 11. I don t understand.
I can understand our concern. You need to rule out renal or cardiac pathologies, that are very common in a diabetic patient. Regarding to glucose levels, jardiance can substitute perfectly Invokanna.
