Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have shortness of breath and wheezing and the asthma meds don t help much. I do normally have asthma though but this feels different. I do have tooth fractures but none appear to be infected or feel like that does (had that in the past) although I do have one wisdom tooth that s compacted left over from long ago because of how packed in it was but seems ok. I m going to an urgent care tomorrow to request a lung/chest xray. What do you think it is?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The patients with asthma are known to have on and off exacerbation.
These are troublesome times for asthmatics.
They need nebulization medications along with steroid IV sometimes for the relief. Minor infections and medications can sometimes cause the asthma attacks to become worse. Seasonal changes like spring, where pollen grains are abundant in the air, are another common cause of the exacerbation.
I think you should go to the ER as soon as possible and start treatment. Since, I do not have any details of your regular treatment, I cannot suggest a more specific therapy. You can upload those details and I will try to help you further. A readjustment of the dose may be helpful.
Best wishes,
Looking forward for your message,
Dr Saumya Mittal
