What Causes Shortness Of Breath Upon Slight Exertion While On Atenolol?

my sister is 75 years young, her blood pressure was up at her last two appointments and her Dr. put her on 50mg of atenolol. When she walks a short distance I have noticed she get very short of breath to the point of exhaustion. She has to sit a little while or stand with her cane before moving on. I noticed this once she started these b/p pills do you think this is a side effect from them?

Hello, Thanks for the query.
I have gone through the contents and appreciate the concern.
With atenolol in some patients "shortness of breath" and dizziness can be felt as side effects.
My suggestion is to shift to another antihypertensive drug like Amlodepine 5 mg, after slowly withdrawing atenolol. That is reduce the dose to 25 mg for a few days then stop. Thanks.
