What Causes Shortness Of Breath When Speaking And Nausea?
I have lately been running out of breath when speaking. I also have increased mucous coming from throat when coughing as well as nausea that results in heaving up mouthfuls of mucus most times tinged with blood. Also have water retention and swelling of the left leg primarily and right hand
Understanding your concern. As per your query shortness of breath when speaking and nausea can occur due to many reasons like there is excessive formation of intestinal gas after taking food and it is causing bloated feeling , nausea along with shortness of breath and that is relieved with burping during speaking , which is causing difficulty.
The symptoms can also occur due to allergic reaction like asthma , so for time being take over the counter anti histamine like benadryl. Rolaids helps as it is an antacid and will help in neutrilizing acid as well as help in releasing gas.
I would suggest you to consult a Gastroenterologist and get evaluated and he can advise you to take H blockers like Ranitidine and antacids half an hour before meals. You should also eat food slowly as eating too fast can trap more air. Doctor may also refer you to allergy specialisy for asthma or chest specialist for chest infection .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
