What Causes Shortness Of Breath While Climbing Stairs?

I have issues with shortness of breath. I live on the third floor and struggle to get to the top of the second flight of stairs; especially if I have groceries or something to carry. I volunteered tonight and after carrying a lightweight box for a short walk to someone s car; I was extremely out of breath and almost had to sit down. I have had several stress tests and even a stress echo test and they all come back normal. Not sure what to do; but it is very frustrating how easily I am winded and worn out.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to several causes. For further assessment you may require complete hemogram, electrocardiogram, chest X-ray after physician consultation. Further treatment mainly depends upon the underlying condition. You may require iron tablet after consultation. Keep your self hydrated. Take balanced diet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
