What Causes Shortness Of Breath While On Antibiotics?
My dad was taken 2 hospital 5 days ago why fever and vomiting. He was diagnosed wth a Uti and has been treated wth antibiotics. They say he is now fit for discharge My concern is he is now very short of breath with the minimal of exertion. A week ago his breathing was not a concern at all. He is generally very active. Is this normal after a Uti?
UTI( urinary tract infection) is commonly caused due to bacteria but there are viruses and fungi that also cause UTI.
Depending on the medicines he has been given for the treatment, the shortness of breath might or might not be related to some medicines.
As he is in hospital, there are great chances of him getting hospital-acquired infections and that can cause the shortness of breath.
I would suggest you talk to the doctor who is treating your father about this, he will examine your father and will be able to find out what’s the cause behind this.
He might ask for a couple of more diagnostic tests if required. Once the underlying cause is known, he will be treated for the same with appropriate medicines.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
