What Causes Shortness Of Breath While Suffering From COPD?

I have copd which is well controlled. I developed polygamous in September and I am taking gradual reduced prednisilone. Over the last 2months in slight exertion I am breathless as if I have run for a bus and this is not normal for me. What could be causing it?

Hi thanks for writing to HCM.
COPD is a disease,in which smaller always inside the lungs are involved.These airways get smaller in size due to variety of causes especially during winter.Cold and infection being the commonest causes. infection also block these smaller airway making transfer of air (oxygen) from these airways to blood difficult.When there is decreased oxygen in blood and body require oxygen for all activities.This lack of oxygen cause breathless.Lesser the oxygen in blood,sever is the degree of breathlessness.predinsolone decreases airways sensitive to variety of stimuli which decreases the size of airways,but being steroid is not used for prolonged period
