What Causes Shortness Of Breath While Suffering From COPD?
Hi. My brother is here in Ohio visiting from fla he said he was diagnosed with COPD. He cannot walk more than 5 steps without becoming very sob. His color is very bad with blue shade to his ears and neck. He has never seen a cardiologist just a pulmonary doc. I am afraid to let him leave of his condition. He lives alone in fla.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. By your history and description, your brother is suffering from terminal stage of COPD. Breathlessness on minimal exertion, cynosis (Blue discoloration of ear lobes) etc are signs of very severe COPD. He needs urgent hospitalization. He needs injectable bronchodilators, antibiotics, inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone). Oxygen is also needed. So better not to leave him alone, take him to hospital and start treatment. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your brother. Thanks.
