What Causes Shortness Of Breath While Suffering From Hypertension?

My husband is 42 and fit his blood pressure was 156/120 tonight. He doesn t drink and quit smoking 30 + days ago. His bp is high every time we check but usually 120/100. He is not on any medications. He is complaining dry mouth and can t seem to catch his breath but functioning same as usual. Should I be calling his doctor and forcing him for checkup?
