What Causes Shortness Of Breath While Suffering From Sleep Apnea?

I have been short of breath during the day. This condition comes and goes. Lately it seams to last longer than usual. I have sleep apenea and use a cpap unit during my sleeping hours. I do not smoke (quit 15 years ago). I am a 70 year old male. I do take blood pressure medication, prevacid and aspirin as instructed by my doctor.
