I can hear rattling noises coming from my mouth when I exhale. I run out of breath when I am talking. I have to inhale more often. I can breath through my nose but I seem to what to breath more deeply and it is louder. I have RA and was just diagnosed with sleep apnea I go back tonight to try the mask. The tech said it was mild. I have a extremely long dream state and stop breathing minimum 8 times an hour. I wake up several times a night. This breathing issue I have not brought up before. Should I tell them tonight or go see a different doctor?
Hi, this is Dr. Tshering. If a similar patient presented to my clinic with history of rheumatoid arthritis and worsening shortness of breath over sometime, I would suspect pulmonary fibrosis first. This is also a manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis. An chest xray or CT scan can confirm. If you run out of breath even while talking, then it might be a little serious. Your sleep apnea maybe unrelated to the rheumatoid arthritis and maybe due to other causes like obesity, etc but it could be aggravated due to the lung fibrosis. However I would recommend you visit a rheumatologist and general physician as early as possible and get this investigated. Regards
