Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Shortness Of Breath With Breathing Difficulty During Pregnancy?
My first pregnancy I had a collapsed lung after an emergency c-section (anesthetic to sleep), oxygen stats were low. I am now in my second pregnancy and shortness of breath after little activity, i.e walking from one room to the other. I feel I can t breathe properly through my nose either. I did faint a few weeks ago from standing too long in a queue. Will I see a doctor and ask for an xray on lung or blood test? Or is it normal during pregnancy.
* Short breath during pregnancy with fainting episode is not normal and the same must be presented to your treating OBGY.
* There can be vivid reasons for the same as low hemoglobin, low blood pressure, thyroid hormone level disturbances, protein disturbances, polyhydramnios compressing diaphragm, respiratory infection, viral infection involving myocardium or pericardium or else.
* Your OBGY will assist you further for the need of blood tests with or without an x-ray of the chest to get it diagnosed and cured accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
