What Causes Shortness Of Breath With Elevated Pulse Rate?

My 23 year old daughter is having some difficulty breathing, chest (diaphragm) spams and a racing heart beat 117. She went to the ER last night and she had a chest x-Ray and a cat scan. They were normal. She also had a EKG and it was normal. What could be some possible problems?

Hello,

Shortness of breath with increased heart rate are seen in the following conditions:
1) Acute bronchial asthma
2) Foreign body in the respiratory tract
3) Tumors of airway
4) Pulmonary migraine
5) Congestive heart failure
6) Arrhythmias of heart
7) Gastroesophageal reflux
8) Aortic arch anomalies
9) Diffuse pan bronchiolitis

Please discuss the above possible conditions with your physician to arrive at a specific diagnosis and appropriate treatment. She may need the following tests like 2D echocardiography and pulmonary function tests.
