Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have lost 3 inches with compression fractures of my T9, ith mira-lax. aNd L1. Currently I am doing PT. I am often short of breath and would like to understand why. i have a sluggish bowel and manage that with miralax. can you offer any suggestions?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Shortness of breath can be due to different possible causes such as-
(1) heart disease
(2) lung disease
(3) anemia
(4) anxiety
A complete blood count can check for anemia and chest X-ray for lung disease. An ECG can take an initial look at the heart.
Bowel function is controlled by nerves from the spine so it is possible that these were affected by your compression fracture. Imaging would be needed to determine if this is the case.
I hope this helps.
