Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am 43 years old and had a severe flue two days ago. I became very dehydrated. Now my upper back, neck and shoulders hurt. It is getting worse and not better. I can barely lay down because it hurts so badly. I feel like I may have something I need to cough up, but when I cough I just feel like I can t really get anything up. I don t know if this is serious or not. I don t have insurance so I have avoided going to the doctor. When I hiccup it hurts really badly at the place where my neck meets my clavicle.
Your symptoms seem to be related to an upper respiratory tract infection. I suggest you take anti-inflammatory medications for the pain such as ibuprofen daily. I also suggest you to use mucolytics to help with a cough.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
