Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Shoulder Pain That Radiates Towards The Neck And Jaw And Elbow?
What could be causing a dull, but constant, shoulder pain that radiates up into the neck and the jaw and sometimes down the left arm beyond the elbow? There is no chest pain, no stiffness, no additional pain upon arm or neck movement. The dull ache is not relieved or increased by movement.
Which side is your shoulder pain - right or left? The type of pain that you are describing is most likely seen in cases of acute heart attack but it does not persist for long time, and it cannot be relieved by medications. If not, it could be due to gastritis. If there is no additional pain upon arm or neck movement, it is unlikely to be of muscular or skeletal origin.
I would suggest you to get a routine Electrocardiogram done to see if your heart is normal. If it is normal, then you can take a course of antacids like Omeprazole or Pantoprazole and check if your symptoms are subsiding.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shanthi E., General & Family Physician
