What Causes Shoulder Pain While Undergoing Therapy For Torn ACL In Knee?
I m currently in physical therapy for my knee. I tore my acl, meniscus, and cartilage around my knee. I m towards the end of my therapy. Lately, my shoulder has been hurting me pretty badly. The only exercises that ive been doing that involves my arm is calf raises with weights and step up with weights. My shoulder hurts when at rest and sometimes when in motion. It also hurts when I reach back for something. What do you think?
* As per my clinical experience, the shoulder pain do indicates possible ligament spasm or inflammation following certain acts or maneuvers.
My guidelines for better recovery
- local application of ice over the affected sore area of shoulder
- intake of analgesic as diclofenac or ibuprofen after meals with antacid
- avoid excess arm movements, particularly that of over the shoulder maneuvers
- no weight lifting should be encouraged with that upper limb
* Consult your ortho for further guidance of cure and management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
