Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mri scan showed shrinking blood vessels and some blood vessel enlarging -I am taking Namenda xr for dementia-my doctor list a numbers of diseases that may cause the shrinking vessels-the only one I remembered was lupus. Thank you
Commonly it is seen that patients suffering from Lupus have a tendency to get a premature increase in atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries).
Other medical conditions that may cause shrinkage of the blood vessels are developing CAD, coronary artery disease or Atherosclerosis.
You are suggested to get a thorough cardiac check-up done. Get physically examined & get all required investigations done. The arteries get narrowed due to the deposition of cholesterol from the inside & get hardened by fibrous tissue & calcification.
The plaque may trigger a heart attack or stroke. Get assessed, get treated at the earliest. Your treatment will depend upon the severity of the pathology diagnosed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
