What Causes Sickle Shaped Small Dark Spots And Does Braces Cause Dark Spots On Tongue?
I have had small dark spots most sickle shaped. When they first appeared they were itchy and my feet were swollen. Also, my tongue has developed dark marks on the tip of my tongue. They look like burn marks but they are not. I wore braces and presently wearing retainers. I don't know If this has anything to do with it. Please help !!
I would keep a possibility of Lichen planus (cutaneous and oral). They present as itchy erythematous to purple papules on various body sites like legs(shins and ankles), wrists, abdomen, arms etc. In oral mucosa they look like pigmented spots most commonly which may be asymptomatic or they may cause increased sensitivity to spicy food but can also present as linear white streaks, ulcers or erosions etc which are mostly symptomatic.
Treatment options are plenty. Commonly used treatment modalities are topical steroids and oral steroids. Results are good
I would advice that you visit a dermatologist for a confirmatory diagnosis.
take care regards
