What Causes Sinus Congestion And Severe Cough Along With Yellow Sputum?
I ve had a bad cough for about a month and a half to where I almost throw up from coughing so much. The cough is productive, with globs of yellow-greenish mucus coming out. Sinus Congestion came a little after the cough started. I went to the doc a couple weeks ago and was prescribe antibiotics for a sinus infection but after taking all of the pills, nothing was better. My mucus has been getting darker and more orange/brown. Today I thought I had a nose bleed but it turned out to be a yellow liquid pouring out of my nose for about 10 minutes. Any idea on what this could be?
The symptoms seem to be related to sinusitis which is an inflammation of the sinuses. I recommend to use a decongestant such as Dexometorphan. I also suggest to use a saline nasal spray for local application. I suggest to drink liquids and use a humidifier at home. If the symptoms continue, you should use antibiotics to treat the infection.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
