Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Skin Cut On The Inner Cheeks And A Lump In The Neck?
I cut inside my mouth badly, my inner cheek split from my gum, I have been on antibiotics for five weeks , but I have a large hard solid lump in my neck, docter made an incision to release built up fluids , but it seems to be getting worse and very painful, doctors seem at a loss to what is causing it , I had my accident on Xmas day
It looks like due to injury there has been laceration in the mucosa of the cheek that has caused split of cheek from the gums..
If the laceration or the cut is larger than 2 to 3 inches then it should be sutured or stitched in place to initiate healing..
Lump on neck seems to be due to infection caused secondary to trauma causing a large painful abscess formation..
The contents has to be cultured to check for the exact strain of organisms causing infection and antibiotics should be given accordingly to reduce infection faster.. Along with it Incision and Drainage has to be done again.. See a General Surgeon in this regard..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
