What Causes Skin Darkening While On Methotrexate And Hydroxychloroquine?
i am 51 years old woman from india ,i used melalite for 2 years ,initially results were satisfactory than my skin started getting even more dark. for last 7 months i am on 15 mg methotracsate once a week and taking 200 mg hodroxy chloroquine every day for reumatoid arthritis .what can be the cause of sudden darkening of skin.
As per my clinical experience, the long term use of Methotrexate is associated with: - Headache - Dizziness - Rashes - Pin point red spots - Unusual bruises - Fatigue - Others
So the skin darkening is a likely sequence of methotrexate which is a folate antagonist and depriving body from essential sources of vitamins of skin health.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
