What Causes Skin Discoloration On Top Of Buttock Cleavage?

I m 38 years old Caucasian male. I started running (2)5k s per week about 4 months ago. I have discovered discoloration at the top of my Botox crack/ lower back. I have googled melanoma and it looks nothing like that. Have you seen this before or know what it might possibly be? I am Italian and have had lots of issues with skin fungus that turns into sunspots once it s dead. This is different than that.

Hello,

You are having skin discoloration on top of your buttock cleavage. You have started running (2)5k per week since about 4 months ago. Your symptom may be indicative of friction rubbing from clothing, infection of hair follicles, sweat and warmth causing fungal infection, use of skin products that irritate the skin. Medical conditions that can cause such symptoms are Addison's disease, psoriasis, vitamin deficiencies, chloasma, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, etc.

You are suggested to avoid direct sunlight. Applying cool compresses will be helpful. Be gentle with yourself, do not scrub your skin. Use a soft towel to pat yourself dry. Apply ointment or cream containing aloe vera and a light water based moisturizer to relieve chafing. You can apply silver sulfadiazine (1% cream) on the skin. For fungal infection applying clotrimazole ointment on the affected area, it works.

After running you should wash the areas several times with fresh water. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Wear soft cotton undergarments and lose fitting soft cotton clothes. vitamin C and retinoids work well. If it remains persistent consult a dermatologist. Your treating dermatologist may recommend laser therapy, chemical peel, cryosurgery, microdermabrasion.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
