What Causes Skin Peeling On The Head Of The Penis?

I am very worried about my penis, since Friday I have cleaning my penis as normal but the skin has started to peel away on top of my penis. So this is under the foreskin and on the actually penis head. It is about half of my penis that has peeled away and it s a very noticeable red colour, Only thing I have changed recently is I started a 7 day course of doxycycline last Wednesday (for suspected chalmydia) so that s nearly a week now. I was going to give it time to get better but I need some guidance before I go to GP Thanks

Hello,

Skin sloughing with penis skin indicates underlying fungal or bacterial infection with staph aureus most likely. As the doxycycline course of 1 week has been finished, I would recommend a swab culture report of the penis skin in microbiology lab which will show up the exact causative pathogen responsible for the same and your doc would be in a better position to handle it. Till that time, sterile dressing with application of polymycin or neomycin cream will opt for best results of healing recovery.
