What Causes Skin Redness And Inflammation Inspite Of Taking Motrin?

Where ever I touch my skin it turns red and feels hot. If I walk, my feet get inflamed, if I use my hands they get red and hot. Worse on hands and feet but it flares up everywhere! I took Motrin over several days but not consecutively. Started taking gummy vitamins and gummy probiotics. Have stopped all for 4 days and still it has not calmed down. Inside ears are itchy and when I breathe deep it feels like a smoggy day! My face does not seem affected.

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,

You seem to be suffering from one of the following probable skin conditions:
1) Allergic contact dermatitis
2) Atopic eczema
3) Irritant contact dermatitis
4) Drug hypersensitivity reactions

Treatment includes the following:
1) Antihistamines like tab. Benadryl.
2) Hydrocortisone skin cream to be applied on the rash.
3) Calamine lotion to be applied on the reddened areas for cooling effect.
4) Moisturizer like petroleum jelly can also be used.
5) If the rash doesn't come down with the above measures, oral corticosteroids may be necessary.

If your skin redness and inflammation do not reduce, please consult a dermatologist for a specific diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
