What Causes Skin Sensitivity And Cold Sensation In Hips And Abdomen?

Around my hips and lower stomach area, my skin is sensitive to cold touch. For example, if my hand is cold and I touch the side of my hip, I feel painful and it gives me discomfort. I cannot determine whether the pain is only occurring on the surface or if it goes deeper. I have know injuries in this area and this only starting occurring today.

Hi,

Skin sensitivity and cold sensation in the hips and abdomen can be caused by several different factors, including nerve damage, poor circulation, or a skin condition.

One possible cause of skin sensitivity and cold sensation is nerve damage, which can occur due to a variety of reasons such as injury, disease, or pressure on the nerves. The nerves in the hip and abdomen area may be affected by pressure from sitting for long periods or by trauma to the area. Other symptoms of nerve damage may include tingling, numbness, or weakness in the affected area.

Poor circulation can also cause skin sensitivity and cold sensation in the hips and abdomen. When the blood flow to an area is reduced, the skin may feel cold and numb. Poor circulation can be caused by various conditions, such as peripheral artery disease or atherosclerosis.

Certain skin conditions, such as shingles, can also cause skin sensitivity and pain. Shingles are a viral infection that affects the nerves and skin. Symptoms can include a rash or blisters, itching, and pain or sensitivity in the affected area.

It is important to see a healthcare professional to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms. They may perform a physical exam, order diagnostic tests, or refer you to a specialist, depending on the suspected cause.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
