Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Skin Sensitivity In The Chest And Pain In The Nipples?
My husband has been complaining about severe skin sensitivity in his upper chest on one side only, and describes a sharp pain in the nipple from time to time. He also has developed occasional shortness of breath, and fatigue. No fever. (he also has metabolic syndrome ((diabetes, heart disease)); he is 61 years old. Any thoughts?
First of all, it's sad to know what your husband had been going through lately.
Based on the history you have shared, it needs to be evaluated whether the pain is on right or left. Also, chest X-ray and EKG might be needed to look for any local or systemic cause.
If unremarkable echocardiogram may also be needed. Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like acetaminophen can be given for pain.
But since chest pain cant be ignored this work up should be done initially. Skin causes or nerve pains or musculoskeletal pains are possiblity however considered after detailed examination of vital systems.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
