Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I suffer from small pockets of skin that develop near the head of my penis. They don t hurt. I am circumsized. They seem to almost scab-up, or sometimes look like fuzz from my black underwear gets inside. What is this? Is there any chance that it s dangerous to be sexually active with this condition?
I went through your details. The small pockets of skin that develop around your penis head is not actually skin. That is called smegma. Smegma is a whitish substance that may be present on the genitalia.
Smegma is a combination of shed skin cells, skin oils, and moisture. It occurs in both female and male. smegma helps keep the glans moist and facilitates sexual intercourse by acting as a lubricant. It is produced from minute microscopic protrusions of the mucosal surface of the foreskin and that living cells constantly grow towards the surface, undergo fatty degeneration, separate off, and form smegma.
Therefore there is nothing to worry about it. I suggest you to clean the area twice daily and keep it neat and hygienic.
