Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My heart has been frequently what I call skipping beats . There will be a regular rhythm, then a pause, then a noticeably hard beat followed by a pounding regular beat. Sometimes this will happen every second, third or fourth beat. I particularly feel it while lying in bed before going to sleep and upon waking. I can do cardio exercise without pain or sob, and seldom notice this skipped beat phenomenon during exercise. I have been having episodes of light headedness or mild dizziness, but doesn t seem to be coincident with the skipped beat episodes. Would appreciate your opinion regarding these symptoms. Thank you.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. By your history and description, we should should definitely rule out arrhythmia (rhythm disturbances in heart). So better to consult cardiologist and get done ecg, 2d echo and Holter monitoring (24 hours continuous recording of Ecg). Since you have occasional symptoms like dizziness, giddiness, lightheadedness, if Holter shows arrhythmia then you should start anti arrhythmia drug. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
